The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Christian Wulff, accompanied by his daughter Annalena Wulff, visited Yad Vashem on Sunday, 28/11/2010
During his visit to Yad Vashem, the President toured the Holocaust History Museum, including the Hall of Names, accompanied by Yad Vashem Chairman Avner Shalev, and participated in a Memorial Ceremony in the Hall of Remembrance before visiting the Children's Memorial and signing the Yad Vashem Guest Book. President Shimon Peres also participated in the Memorial Ceremony in the Hall of Remembrance. President Wulff laid a wreath in the Valley of the Communities, next to the wall on which his hometown, Osnabruck, Germany, appears.
Upon exiting the Children's Memorial, President Wulff wrote the following in the Visitors' Book (translated from German):
The incomprehensible crimes of the Shoah forever obligate Germany and the Germans to safeguard the existence of the State of Israel.
